If you already have slip-on mufflers, you can get a head pipe kit from Fullsac Performance that will work with your OEM heat shields. Personally, I've never used them but lots of guys on here have.

Another option is finding a stock head pipe already de-catted. http://www.wildpigpipes.com/Store1.html has them for $150 and you can keep your stock pipe. This is the route I took and works/runs great.
I have the Fullsac headers on my Road King and Limited. It is a good, quality pipe. I also installed the Fullsac cores in the stock Limited mufflers, as I did not want them loud and had read good things about them. I found they worked very well for my set up.
Been riding my 14 Road King for a little over 3 years, so I have a good baseline on how it performs. Basically stock other than Cobra slip on mufflers and a K&N air filter. Last weekend I drilled out/removed my cat and I'm amazed at the difference in throttle response and love the way it sounds now. Less heat on my right leg while sitting at stop lights is another benefit. My only regret is that I didn't do it a long time ago. Been thinking about buying a tuner, but not sure if I really need one. Time will tell I guess.
I recently went with a Fuel Moto header, S&S slip on’s, stealth Big Sucker and PV tuner. All items purchased from Fuel Moto. Losing the cat will help with heat and I’ve been very pleased with the new set up.
I was on the fence regarding getting the new header but I’m glad that I did. Easy swap and the guys from Fuel Moto are very helpful. Good luck with your decision

so you still have stock header ? My 2016 street glide is all stock. No slip ons and stock breather.
just wondering if I can just take out the catalytic converter and leave everything else stock for getting rid of heat. Next year Ill get new slip ons, breather, PV or something else and dynoed. TIA guys.
Following up on my question above. If it's ok just to take out the catalytic converter if my bike is still stock. I called local muffler shop to check if they will do it and I was told it's against federal law. He won't be able to do that.
