True dual or leave the stock dual exhaust ?
I have a 2004 Road King Classic and I am looking at upping the HP a little bit and a question I have is if putting on true duals helps or do I have to do other stuff on top of that to make it run right or should I just leave the stock duals on ( which has a crossover pipe or is connected ) has anyone bought say cobra or Bassani true dual headers and just bolted them on ? If so did that help ? Thank you
Assuming your bike is completely stock, a pipe alone isn't going to change much on performance. You'll need a better A/C as well, and you'll need to get it tuned.
It's a lot of money for a marginal improvement. If your goal is 4-5 extra hp, then you could do it that way.
Also, there are definite benefits to a crossover pipe. The scavenging effect helps your engine produce more power.
If "upping the HP a little bit" was an understatement, and you want to give your bike a kick, swap your cams as well.

I've had crossover pipes, true duals and 2 into 1 pipes, the true duals always sounded better to me but they never really gave me a performance advantage on a street motorcycle. I did notice a difference with the two into one on a bagger but that's not everyone's cup of tea in the looks department.
That said, I'm running true duals again now because I'm not on a sport bike and top HP isn't my goal any more, top age is...

9% boost in HP. Stock '14 Ultra - added Arlen Ness Big Sucker A/C, Power Commander V and tuned
To the OP.: If by true duels you mean on pipe & exhaust for each cylinder with no crossover...then it might sound better. But, kills low end torque, and tuning will not fix that.
Ok , thank you all for your comments , yes I have the stock exhausts that is dual exhaust but it has the one that connects to both , I was thinking if I got true duals it would let her breath a little better and give it just a little more ooomphf if you know what I mean , not looking for a lot but just a touch

^^^ Harley motors like some of the scavenging that comes from the reversion wave when the two cylinder exhausts interact with each other. It’s not really the back pressure, but the interaction that you don’t get from true duals.
