Electrical oddities
I recently inherited a 2005 Electra Glide Ultra Classic from my dad when he passed... I am told he kept great care of it, however I am not sure what he's done to it. I've had several bikes before, Cruisers, Sports Bikes, etc, however this is the first Harley... Anyway, when I first got to it, the battery was completely dead, after sitting, I would suspect, at least 9 months untouched. I went ahead and charged the battery and it all seems fine. It starts and runs great, no loss of power or any mechanical problems that i can see. However, it randomly throws a CEL for about 5 seconds, then goes away. Also, randomly, the red security key lights up for a while, and also, randomly, the red battery light will come on. Shortly after the red battery light comes on the entire cluster shuts down... the Tach and Spedo both drop down to zero for maybe a second, and then come right back to normal. No loss of power, engine continues to run great... shortly after these occur, all the problem lights go away and everything works as normal.
It is throwing several problem codes, and I was able to figure out how to capture them...
U1097
U1255
U1300
U1016
All look related to connections of some kind. I am sure it isn't going to be an easy one to diagnose, and I don't really have the tools to do so, but thought maybe someone had experienced these symptoms before, and maybe it was something specific. Worth a shot before I take it to the local dealer for a once over...
TIA

Most of this would point me to electrical. Battery was dead and you charged it, I’d just replace it. Sometimes batteries can cause issues.
next thing I would consider is a lot of the codes are low data to ECM and low data from Speedo. I think the u1300 or u1016 causes the red key to light up. I would be checking the connection to the ECM and wires running to it. The ECM is located under the left side panel and held on by a couple Allen screws. It it very important to pull the fuel pump and ECM fuses before disconnecting the ECM. Disconnect and reconnect a couple time, add a little dielectric grease and reconnect. Put it all back together and see what you get.

If the battery was totally dead....i.e. no or very low single digit volts, replace battery.
slim chance you could bring it back to life, but it's highly unlikely.
Did you ck any voltages while running and off andowith key on?

Thanks... I cant find my multimeter anywhere, so I am headed out later today, after work, to get a new one.. Will load test and replace battery if needed. If that doesn't work I'll start checking on the ECM connections and fuses. I'll report back... thanks again guys!
