I have a 19 ultrA limited,. When I bought it new they said it came with apple carplay, but no android Auto,. I never tried to get the carplay as I had a android phone. Shortly after Harley came out with a flash that allows android Auto to work. So my son installed it. it seemed to work well. I just bought a iiphone and now carplay doesn't come up. Do I have to have carplay re installed? Carplay comes right up in my truck. Anybody else have this issue? Thanks in advance

 

Do you have a headset hooked up?

 

No I don't,. I never had to have it hooked up with android

 

CarPlay won't work if it doesn't detect a microphone. There were some ways around it in the past, but the HD Digital Tech doesn't have the capability to make it work any more.

 

I know you can do it someone here tried to help me do it but I am teck challenged. But I do use it on my 2019 ultra with blue tooth. So what ever music its on your phone at the time that's what it will play, you cant change it unless you can do it on your phone while ridding. Works for me.

 

When I had the GTS installed I believe the "work around" was to "Disable" the mic in the Digitech settings... but my mic still worked. I could, and still can, just plug my paired iPhone in via USB and CarPlay shows up automatically.

Be sure your iPhone is paired, plug it in to the media cord (usb), then if necessary plug in the headset that came with your bike and see if that gets it going. If that doesn't, try plugging the headset in before plugging the phone in, but thats just my process of elimination thing..

There was a Digitech update that blocked being able to do the "work around", and if the dealers mess with it, it will be gone too... then I believe you have to have a headset/mic plugged in (or via WHIM). This is probably what is going on with your bike, and you'll have to connect a headset to get CarPlay.

Then, if that the deal, that you got to have your headset/mic on to have CarPlay, there's "hack", but it has its issues too, but it doesn't seem too much of a problem lol

Not true. A local shop was able to work some flashing voodoo, and my 21 works without a mic of a WHIM installed.

 

A lot of people would like to know what they did to make it work, please explain.

 

So was thinking about this post. I ask about the same question some time back. This is the help a got from Mikes300 he told me to try this. Is a jumper anyway
