That is a bummer! I have had my 2021 Ultra Limited (first Harley) for less than 60 days, please people do not laugh. But my bike has now kissed the earth on both the left and right side (damn Jiffy stand retracted, front brake, handle bars turned)(the classics). Vivid black tiny abrasions on the engine guards, $40. dealer can of paint, super fine emery cloth, like new! Now sporting plastic engine guard covers. Glad I got those drops out of the way!
This thread raises the question, what do people have for an insurance deductible? $0, 500, 1000.? Do people keep their bikes fully insured year round? My agent claimed I can drop collision in the winter.
Burghy13 Those parts are expensive and do not include labor, if you have a low deductible I would make a claim though now you may be dealing with a surcharge for a few years. Tough call, I do think a good body shop can blend that paint to satisfaction no problem.
I was worried myself about my premiums going up but was told that the first claim has no impact on my record (YMMV). I then wondered if I should use this get-out-of-jail-free card or save it. When I saw the estimate it became a no brainer. I will use my insurance to fix it.
With my policy I went with $500 deductible. It made a for a decent reduction in premiums. Also my plan converts to storage with personal liability when taken off the road for the winter. Its designed for bikes and boats.
