Does anyone pay attention to the date your tires was made. I was told you have 5-6 years to ride on that tire before it become a hazard. Also a tire was purchase which was made two years before a friend bought it. Do he have a case?
You may not know the answer, but Tires on the shelf for years before HD sell them should have a cut off date before sold. Maybe this is a ?? for the service department.

1- Yes I look at date.
2- Some folks consider 7 years a cut-off as a precaution.
3-Your friend acquired tires that are 2 years old....tires are dated by week and year so it is unusual that your friend acquired tires exactly 2 years old today.
4- Does he have a case ?... of what? beer ?....
They should need new tires in under 7 years unless the bike is not ridden and if it is not ridden then age does not matter much anyway.

If they are OEM HD branded tires, they sit on a shelf because most people want a better tire.
I look at dates on tires and also look at them regularly. Had a 21 wheel put on my wifes street glide in sturgis in 2018. The tire had a date of 2018, so basically new. Was getting ready for a trip this past weekend and seen the tire is already starting to rote, so will be shopping for a new tire today. This will be the third tire between to bikes that has rotted before being wore out. They are checked once a week and stored on carpet in a garage, it is what it is. Just keep an eye on them and if need to be replaced early remember, you only have two and a few hundred dollars early is worth the safety of a new tire.

Reason: More
I just bought a set of Michelin Commander II's from Revzilla to replace my 2015 Ultra's tires, they only have 4,500 mi. on them, but they are the orginal tires, and being 6 yrs old, it was time.
The rear tire showed up first, and had a date code of 2720, which is exactly a year ago. (27th week of 2020) I was kind of surprised the tire was a year old when it arrived, I figured it would be newer. I'm told that it's nothing to be alarmed about.

Haven't received the front tire yet.
I am wondering if they are pulling stock from just about anybody they can, to fill orders. Tires are on backorder everywhere. That tire may have been in one of their dealer's stock, and they used it to fill your order. I waited nearly 2 months for a Dunlop AE for the front of mine, from Dennis Kirk.
I will go and see what date code is on it, I just got it last week

Well I've had better luck buying tires than I have with Air Filters, I bought an Air Filter from Surdyke online, on May-8, and still haven't received it.
