Harley Part Backlog
All of these shortages, I see this ending rather badly. The skyrocketing inflation, mostly caused by all these shortages, plus high fuel and energy costs, will kill demand, sooner than later IMHO. People will just stop buying things, traveling, etc. At that point, with most people buying only necessities, demand will crater, allowing supply to catch up. But that means a recession, and possibly a bad one similar to 2008. We are in for a major correction in the markets. Everything is way overpriced, from houses, to cars, to toys, even food, especially meat. Runaway home prices helped trigger the 2008 financial crisis. And historically, when inflation skyrockets out of control, the Fed raises interest rates to try and slow the inflation. So high interest rates may be on the way as well.
I know, I'm off topic a little, so to bring it back in line, I'm still waiting for my full size engine guard, over a month now, with no estimated date for arrival.

Same here…. Been waiting since February just for 2 bumper pads for my Exhaust. Probably the cheapest part you can buy at the Harley Dealer. Stopped in last Friday and the parts guy said still on back order. It’s bad out there for sure.
And probably something they use on the production line every day. Why can't they allocate some to parts orders?
I can't see the MoCo running the risk of affecting the production of a $25K+ motorcycle, so someone can purchase a $3.00 part....
I suspect when there are parts shortages and/or possible very long backorder possibilities, parts are moved to the production lines, rather than the other way around....
Not sure that actually would make sense...

Heck the local HD is out of Formula plus and motor oil. ran out two weeks ago. cant get tires either. I have been waiting for foot pegs from Surdkye since June. got email yesterday saying extended back order. times we live in. now people will start hording tires like they did *** wipe as a rubber shortage is expected next year due to extreme weather.
Over two months waiting on a service manual for a 2020 touring bike, they must of reallocated the paper to toilet paper production. A 2020 come on, I could see it if I was looking to get a manual for a 25 year old bike. Dealer tells me they are still waiting on a manual for the Pan America, for their own use. WTF! Rehire all the experts in Logistics that you let go. maybe we will see better results. just my 2 cents.
if you're doing something and really need it right now and don't want to wait, you can always get a weekly, monthly, or annual subscription to harley sip. for a year, it's $65 (for just one model). gives you access to tsb's, electrical, and service manuals.
