I ordered some passenger foot boards to match the rider foot boards that I bought and were in stock at the dealer.
Been waiting 6 weeks for them to arrive. Every anticipated arrival date has been pushed back by another week or so, since I initially placed the order. Good luck....
While some of the back log can be assigned to COV19 and people not wanting to work. It was part of the HD plan before COV19.
Cut production, raise prices. They step by step moved to achieve that goal. I needed the tail light base for a 2020 Touring. Same one they have used sense 2000. Dealership wanted me to order it pay for it and gave me 30 days to 6 month time frame. I was swamping out my tour pack lights for smoked. HD no idea when they would have them. CD shipped next day. HD light 1 year warranty. CD life time.
I called CD had it shipped the same day.
Shop aftermarket. better warranty in some case better price with out the dealership.
HD planned parts shortages to force up prices. Some Cov19 problems made their plan worst. Aftermarket for everything.

While it's true that Harley's plan under Zeitz was to decrease production of motorcycles to drive up their prices, it was also their plan to increase sales in other areas of their business ie. parts, accessories, and clothing.
You have to think that this parts shortage situation is pissing off a lot of people (hell, I waited over 8 months for a painted part myself) and pissed off people are generally not repeat customers. So I'd imagine that Harley is doing everything they can, under current conditions, to solve this problem.
I got my wheels from ***** Shiny and decided to go ahead and add the TPMS to my 16 RGU while I'm doing the wheel swap. The HD sensors were in stock and now they are in the wheels and fit just fine with a minor modification... Checked with the local dealer yesterday because the BCM was supposed to be in, but he said it was on "nation wide backorder" till late September lol Nearest dealer to me showing one in stock was Longhorn HD in the Dallas area. Called a buddy, he went by this morning and picked it up and shipped it to me, should be here tomorrow.
If you got to have an HD part and don't want to wait, your dealer can tell you if another dealer is holding one somewhere, then you can work on getting it yourself. It's not uncommon for one dealer to not want to sell to another dealer on an item thats back ordered in their system. They want to get the profit from selling to the end user, and they aint gonna get that selling to another dealer.
There are sporadically shortages across all manufacturing sectors. Its not some conspiracy to drive up costs. People arent going back to work in all industries. That includes both national and international manufacturing and shipping.
You can try to get your dealer to look at other dealers. I would think most large dealer would stock the stator. Or as others have said try aftermarket.
