Default Strange Brake Problem

Just got a 2005 Road Glide. Having issues with the front brakes. They are firm when parked. As soon as I pull forward they go soft. I can pump them up, but they go soft as long as I'm moving. I rebuilt the master cylinder and the calipers, bleed the system as required. Still have the issue. Any ideas on what to try next.

Off hand guess warped rotors.

Have you looked through this thread? The pistons are often the culprit here and may need to be cleaned thoroughly. They hold dirt and can also be scored slightly resulting in that soft pull you are feeling. I know you mentioned that you’ve rebuilt them but, what did those pistons look like?

Check out this thread. May prove helpful.

I looked through the thread that discussed the pistons and tried that solution first. When I took the calipers apart to rebuild them, the old pistons were in decent shape, but I already had the parts so the rebuild is done. Sill have the same problem.

Get the front wheel off the ground so you roll the wheel and watch the rotors or better yet rig an indicator on them. Sitting, you'll have good handle with tweaked one's, rolling and they push the pads out and give you that constant mushy feeling.

Common issue depending on the last guys riding habits. All it takes is a little heat of a good bump to warp them.

PS ALWAY check the simple **** first before tearing off into everything pulling stuff apart.

Like mentioned check the rotors. If slightly warped as the rotor turns it pushes the pistons in further than the standard extension normal for the MC.
. Dial indicator mounted on fork. Runout spec in the manual.Machen you replace them upgrade to full floating rotors. HD skimps on the brakes with the solid rotors.
