When i travel i stay in my toy hauler and the whole bike goes in, but, they make removeable bags for the luggage that have handles. Theyre like a suitcase shaped like your hard luggage.
My ‘03 Ultra had the tour pack and saddlebag liners. I’m sure they were overpriced, but they work well. They are thin, but strong, so they don’t waste a lot of space.
I also have a bag like this, that fits in the Tour Pack, but also attaches to your rack. If you use this, do not open the lid with it on it, or the extra weight will crack it near the hinges. Don’t ask me how I know. It’s extremely sturdy. https://www.motocrossgiant.com/T_Bag...p/104974tr.htm
We use saddlebag liners.
<edit> I bought these ones : https://www.kemimoto.com/collections/for-harley/products/motorcycle-saddlebag-travel-tour-pack-bag-for-harley-touring-glide-road-king
The tourpak stays mostly empty & takes jacket liners , extra gloves, rain suits etc.
My lady definitely prefers the tourpak to sissy bar. She says it is much more comfortable & she feels safer. It could be the speakers & the back rest sort of wrap around her more than a sissy bar does, dunno.
Get her the tour pack and a real seat you will both be happy.. Basic bag liners work great for packing. Open saddle bag or tour pack grab and go. Same when you pack. You learn real quick how much you can out in them drop it in and go.
Tour pack is also great for things you may want en route to grab quick or put away . like purse ,wallet . Map ect. Tour pack with power port is nice to have.
I was thinking a tour pack might be more comfortable for her to lean on
Fwiw, I have a road king and use either a back rest or a tour pack when necessary. My GF requests me to put the tour pack on even when we dont need the cargo space because its so much more comfortable........
Just got back from 43 days on the road set up like this, and headed back out for another 37 days next week. At hotels, the wife goes in to check in and grabs a cart while I unsnap the 4 strap clips and lift that 45 lb. beast off the sissy bar/rack. I like taking the whole tour pack in the hotel with me just so some dumbass isn't tempted to try and slice the thing open just to see what's inside. At AirBnB/VRBO's, of course it stays in the house for the duration of that visit.
