last night I noticed oil on my right side bag…was packing up for Sturgis so took it to dealer quick…they said it was a quart high and was causing the blowback…said it should be good now (they just did the 10k service) - first couple legs today were fine, now I’m 400 miles in…and bag has oil spray on it again…seems to be from air breather….any thoughts…
2019 road glide, screamin eagle breather.
sorry for punctuation and any mispellings..typing on my phone.
agreed with nw. however, just to expound a little. it isn't really 1/2 quart 'low'. as long as oil is in between the 'full' and 'add' marks, you are in the operating range. it isn't low until it is below the 'add' mark.
Try either a vented dipstick, transmission cover vent, or an external breather system. When you get out to Sturgis, check in with any one of the performance vendors out there, show them your problem and let them advise. For my money I will eventually do all three. Oh while you're at it get the upgraded HD oil pump as well. You got a 2019 chances are you're going to need it. Good luck and keep us posted.
P.S. I have a vented dipstick and upgraded
HD oil pump. No blowback but you can't
over vent the bike.

Agreed, you are absolutely correct about that. 1/2 way between LOW and FULL when hot, is where my M8 is happy, and not putting oil in the air cleaner.
I should have stated that better.
nah, you were fine. some people are just very literal and think that if it isn't up to the top mark, it isn't full. course, they're the ones with oil all over their saddlebags too.....
