I recently installed a set of Carlini gangster apes 1.50 and risers on my road king that previously had (picture 1) risers. Ive ordered two different riser covers (pictures 2/3) and neither lined up correctly. What am I missing? By the way the new bars are not catching or in the way at all.
thanks In advance.
I'm not 100% sure thsi is your problem, as I don't own a Road King and have never changed bars on a Road King.... but...
The risers in your first picture, are not OEM risers/clamps. They are risers with two-piece clamps. The OEM 2013 Road King handlebars have risers with a one-piece riser clamp...
So if your riser covers are designed to fit OEM Road King risers, the non-OEM riser/clamps are probably the issue...
Have to agree with Hat on this one , I think your risers are the issue . In order for this to work , you may have to trim a little off the cover so it'll sit forward enough to bolt back on . Using a round stone on a drill should do the trick , tape and mark the cover and carefully grind that section until it fits . Just a thought .
I can't tell what size the center portion of the bars are , if they are 1.5" there's no way to change out the risers , hope you get this figured out .
I just put carlini 1.5 bars on my 12 RK and used the riser setup they recommend/sold and my cover fit spot on. It seems the risers and top clamps are way to high. The riser I got from carlini was completely flat on top and bottom and blockish, unfinished aluminum. This riser is what you need.

top pic looks like the street slammer setup that has holes in it for the risers. bottom pics look like you got riser covers from an earlier model. i had an 07 road king. i wanted to replace my riser cover with a newer model cover that had the removable insert on it so that i could adjust my handlebars without having to remove the whole thing. it didn't fit properly. looked a lot like what you're experiencing.
not all road king riser covers are equal. make sure you are buying one that comes from the right year grouping. there was a new part released in 03 that was used up to and including 07, another in 08 that was used up to and including 13. in 2014, there was another new part introduced that is still used today.
The risers arent the issue nor the bars I bought them as a set.
the first riser cover with the logo on is just completely too big for the nacelle (its for a 2014+).
the second cover (smooth one) is supposed to be for a 2013 and does fit snug on the nacelle trim the problem is as you can see in the pic the top 2 mounting screws and for lock dont line up.
again neither the bars or risers interfere (second pic).

OK.... not sure why you posted a pic of the old risers/clamps... that is what I was going by....
If the last pic shows the risers/clamp you now have on the bike, I would call the manufacturer of that set-up. Ask them what year/model it is for, and if that model year riser cover is supposed to be compatible with their riser/clamp set-up.... Since it's a custom set-up, only they will know for sure...

I hope they can help you find the proper cover...
Lol youre right I guess I did make things confusing by posting the set up the bike had when I bought it. I spoke with a few people over at Carlini about it. We confirmed that I have the proper bars and low pro risers for the make/model. They tried to have me adjust the angle of the riser by loosening and tightening it. I explained that neither the riser or bars are in the way at all.
basically I bought the bike with a custom setup and am having trouble finding a cover that fits and lines up with mounting holes. My
local H-D dealer couldnt help either.
Ill just keep trying ones from different years until one matches up.
Sadly, when you go the custom route, things can be really cool, but you need to fend for yourself when it comes to associated parts and their fitments..
Good luck, and report back when you find a solution..
