A T stem that has a lock nut inside the rim, would definitely eliminate the potential problem. I did use my sensors on my bike over the OEM stems, however, when I installed similar sensors on my truck (2006 without factory TPMS) I did have steel stems installed. Those, were flow thru types, and much heavier. I later went to internal sensors on my truck, for aesthetics. My 5th wheel, still has the external flow thru, and steel stems.
I say all this only to say I am not endorsing someone use them on rubber stems. When I did it on my bike, I was careful to hold the stem while screwing the sensor on or off, to maintain its seal on the rim, but with the limited space and stubby stems, it was a PITA.
When I used mine, I did not use the lock nut provided either. Never had an issue of one coming loose or losing one. I just saw that as one more aggravation I did not want to deal with.
I will go with OEM sensors when I do mine, but decided to wait till I get closer to needing new tires, instead of doing it in steps.

That was me, I was adding chrome wheels, so did it all at that time (wheel bearings, tires, brake flush, pads, disks, spacer) and knocked out the TPMS at the same time. Only "Steps" was waiting on stray parts to arrive lol wasn't going to pay any labor twice for the same thing (breaking tires down).
Exactly. I will, however order all my parts hopefully, in time to have them all before my tires wear out. The tires themselvescmight be the big holdup then, the way its going.
Boy if I dwell on this stuff too long, I could pop a gasket, thinking of players that have screw up the world, for everyone. But I have to remember I do not serve these people, I serve one who is greater, and focus on Him.
Well I procrastinated a bit too long, and got to the point of only have funds for the sensors, but ordered those from BigSky, just today. The last day to get discount prices on HD merch. Even if I ordered from local dealer, with no shipping chg, after paying CA sales tax I still saved $30. And thats after paying $18 for shipping from BigSky.
Will install the sensors next time the tires are off the bike. Hopefully I can get the new BCM from HD before I get to that point. Will update when I get it all up and running.
