When you get a new bike they give you a year membership. Am I missing something? Is this worth renewing? then you have to get membership to local chapter. Not sure what the benefits are to both. Can someone help me out
Personally for me no benefit.
My insurance offers towing and is one of the lowest rates in the nation.
several dealers do not offer discounts for hog members, and when they
do it is only a couple times a year.
I don't need their atlas as I can get any map I need on line.
I can attend any rally they have without being a member. I just can't participate in some events or not eligible for door prizes I haven't won anyway.
There's probably more.
Funny you should say something about that. I just shredded all the renewal stuff yesterday and threw away the patch and stickers. Being a member of any club is a matter of what you like. The HOG club never tripped my trigger. Just not my type to ride with, but if you like it....renew. Have you ever been to any of the meetings or anything to check things out??
To renew I believe it is $40 for the basic membership. Some dealers will give you 10% off as long as your a member, so if you renew and spend $400 or moreat a dealer that offers the 10% off then you will have paid for your membership. There are a few other bennies, but never used them.
I renew mine every year (have no idea why) but I have yet to receive my 2007 package despite 5 months having passed by since I sent in the $$$.
I am getting the magazines though.
I like my local membership. They also give 10% discounts and we also have HOG day every 2nd Wednesday and get 20% off. Depends on each stealer. Everyone's different.
Like Numb, I renew mine every year and don't know why! I do enjoy reading the rag (Hog Tales), but haven't used any other of the benefits. I do have the extra insurance which I guess if I every needed it, it would certainly pay for the membership based on some numbers I've seen charged for towing on the forums. Of course the seven year warranty on my new Ultra covers that too, so I guess we are back to I don't know why....[]
Check out your local HOG Chapter. Ours has great meetings monthly and I have met many new friends there. I have also made a great many new business contacts there. Some Chapters are more active than others. Our meetings usually have over 150 in attendance.
