Default 2002 Roadking sputtering, help

Having issues with my 2002 Road-king. The bike runs fine for 10-15 minutes, then once everything gets warmed up it'll start to sputter bad. When I really pin back the throttle hard I'll get a check engine light that will come on only for a few seconds. The sputtering only happens when I accelerate, but once I'm cruising I can feel a lack of power and the bike will hesitate. The bike is fuel injected and I'm suspecting a problem within the tank. I replaced spark plugs and checked battery. Heard some people talk about liner from the fuel tank that might be clogging a fuel line?

I don’t think you’d see the check engine light if it were a peeling liner even if you’d bikes fuel injected. It would feel like it’s running out of gas because it is. But would that alone cause the engine light? I wouldn’t think so but I’m not a wizard by any means. You can see if the liners peeling by peering into the tank with a mirror and LED flashlight. If it is you may see bits of gray liner skin floating about or laying on the bottom of the tank.
Have you done a diagnostic check for errors?

Do you service your own bike? When is the last time you changed your breather tube? A cracked one can cause sputtering.

How many miles ? If the fuel filter hasn't been changed out , I would do it , along with the pressure regulator and hose .

Then clean out your iac , this should be done at every oil change , place a rag inside the tb to catch all the gunk , spray the iac pintle with tb cleaner , at the same time , ign turned on , cycle the run / stop switch ( do not start ) , you'll see the pintle moving . When eveything looks clean , do the butterfly and seat .

Magnetti EFI…. You have a intake leak. That system is famous for the problem and your symptoms are exactly what it does.

2002 was the first year of the Delphi fuel injection.

My (earlier,) MM injection did the same thing. It turned out to be the throttle position sensor.

When the check engine light goes out, that means the active code is no longer active.... but... it will still be in the ECM as a "Historic" code.. It takes numerous engine "cycles" before the historic codes clear by themselves.....

Check your codes, and it will tell you what caused the check engine light...
