Default 2021 Street Glide Special

Hello, I hope this was the correct part of the forums to post, if its not please point me to the correct area. I just picked up a new bike this weekend, its the Street Glide Special in Snake Venom. I am looking at doing some modifications along the way. I thought I would use this thread to track them and update and have a place to ask some questions.

I am a new rider, got my license about a month ago. I picked up a 2016 Slim S to start with the intention of it becoming my wife's bike. She completed her license and has taken over that bike so I went this past Friday and bought the bike I fell in love with on the show room floor. I tried looking at pre-owned bikes, but couldn't shake this one and just decided to do what made me happy. So I bought the bike, a new seat for short people like me ( 5'7 I wanted to be flat footed when i stopped) and I also bought a sissy bar and quick disconnect hardware.

Tonight I am going to go look at an extra pair of 12 inch apes a friend of mine has and check them out on his Street Glide and see how I Like them. I also would like to upgrade the speakers and add more speakers, as Music is important for me.

I am also interested in pipes or slip ons. I want something loud. I put some vance hines big radius on the Slim S and that bike sounds amazing. I am open to any and all suggestions, sometimes you tube clips just dont do them justice. The Galveston Rally is in a few weeks so im hoping to see and hear some pipes on 114's that way I can make an informed choice.

I put 400 miles on the bike this weekend and loved every mile..... I finally understood what it was like to enjoy just the travel and not the destination. I am loving this new chapter in my life. Attached two pictures that show the new seat and the sissy bar.

Sharp bike but why the sissy bar if your wife has her own bike?

Beautiful!

Pipes don't sound really good until a cam goes in, so pay attention to that when you're listening to bikes at the rally. There's a stereo forum here, but if you don't have $5k to spend on a system don't ask questions there, lol!

If you're new here, did you post in the Welcome section? As a new rider, I would like to add couple suggestions.... this is what I post in the new member thread....

Welcome from Spartan Country, Michigan!
I tell a lot of new comers to the forum to get: Factory Service manual and the Parts manual. Get a three ring binder and record all your maintenance, repairs, accessories, etc. This will be a great reminder of what was done when. And great material to pass along to the new owner should you sell and upgrade. Also know how large your fuel tank is, a rough idea of your range per tank, and record your fuel usage. I have an app called Simply Auto that I record all my fuel used. I use the odometer and use the fuel gage as reference only. I reset the odometer to zero on fill ups, and I know I can safely get 200 miles on a tank on around town riding, and upwards of 230+ on trips.
Good Luck!!

And congrats on your new ride!! Good looking bike!
