I have a 06 Road King classic. It has two fobs. Just hunting info out there but what i have gathered is that it does not have a proximity function. Have manual and it only shows how to arm and disarm. Was it in 07 that this function was on?. Also the heat management system on it. Was it auto from factory for 06?. Thanks

Rogerio, I kinda like our Non-prox fob! Here's my reasoning.
I've read threads here where guys are leaving their prox fob's on their workbench (or in their garage somewhere). They jump on the bike, start it up and take off. When they get where they are going and shut down, they are stranded. (You prox guys, tell me if this is a problem).
With the "old fashioned" button fob you have to double click it to disarm your security and then slide it in your pocket. If you don't disarm your bike it won't start. If you disarm and absent mindedly throw your fob back on the workbench, well, you will be still able to start your bike! (But u can't set the security!) Does that make sense?
By the way, I always set my security when my bike is in the garage, that way I won't forget the fob. I still have the locking gas cap.

it's only a problem if the person doesn't know how to use the system, ie. self made problem. it would be akin to hopping on and riding out somewhere and then needing gas and not knowing how to remove the gas cap. it literally takes seconds to enter your self selected pin. you know, a number that you are so familiar with that you should never forget.
in fact, it is such a 'non problem' for me that i don't even bother to change the batteries in my fob yearly. i wait until the battery starts dying on me, then i'll change it my convenience. i usually get over 3 years out of a fob battery before that happens.
I preferred the non proximity fob on my '03. I like to take 2 sets of keys/fobs with me when I am out of town. sometimes I leave one set in the tour pack, and one on my belt. I can't do that with my '12 because someone could ride off with my bike. So now I have to take both with me when I'm off the bike. I was at a business meeting and didn't want to walk around with my keys on my belt, so I put both sets in my jacket. Later I forgot that jacket with both sets of keys in a meeting room. I realized right away so it wasn't a problem, but it would have sucked to lose both sets. I keep a spare key on the bike, and know my security code, but that's cumbersome.

There's also the "NO FOB" message that briefly appears in the odometer window. Easy to miss as it's only displayed for several seconds, but it's a warning nonetheless. Mine will begin to display within two hundred feet of riding away without the fob.
my 07 roadking had eitms. but, it had to be enabled/disabled via dealer flash. the default was disabled, and they would enable it for you under warranty. and if you didn't like it, disable it again. but after that one shot, it was on you to pay for it.

That is why I never change the oil in my bike. I am afraid I will forget to put in the new oil and drive off.
