Default Problems with my S.G.

I installed a new compensator, put 509 cams in, a fueling cam chest plate, new bearings for the cams, an oil pump, and put it all together and I had a valve tapping sound really bad. So I figured that I may have a valve tapping in there cuz it wasn't timed quite right. So I went online and I got a set of heads for it. Put it all back together and I still have a valve tapping sound that is very loud what could be the problem? I was told that the 509 cams were about as big as I could go without having to change anything and I've got the regular stock push rods in there as well. Any info would be appreciated

I don't see anything about new lifters??? And why would you go online and buy new heads? Because you thought that it had a valve tapping? What are you tuning it with? Have taken it apart to recheck cam timing? Also pushrod placement? How long did you let it run for after putting it back together, both times?

I didn't let it run for very long at all. I started it up heard the loud tapping and shut it down. Haven't restarted it at all. Also I wanted to be a little different so I bought the unpainted heads to sit on top of my black cylinders. It looks good like that. I was going to change them out anyway. I'm pretty much at my wits end with this tapping sound. I've swapped out everything. Even the lifters. The last thing I have to try is the adjustable push rods.. I will go ahead and order a set of them. Any suggestions on a set? Also, I'm having an issue with my charging system. The voltage regulator seems to be bad however, I would like to re string my stator just for good measures. I watched a few videos on how to do it and it don't seem like it's very difficult at all... Any suggestions on that as well?
