A local upholstery place added the foam for me and made the new cover at the same time. Check one out in your area, they'll have different stiffnesses of foam to choose from and making the new cover is nothing for them. I went with pretty firm foam in the lower "flap" for lower back support, but not as hard as the factory stuff was in the upper. Then in the upper section a bit softer foam because it was going right over the really firm stuff from the factory.

If I had been thinking, the same people would have easily cut the contour in it for me when they were doing it. But I messed up, and realized it while driving home that I should have had them contoured it... so after it had been on the bike for literally an hour, I was taking the brand new cover off and using a electric fillet knife to reshape it like I wanted. After shaping it I did have to sand the foam's surface as smooth as I could get it. Because every little ridge or bump will show through the vinyl cover, after I got it as smooth as I could, I added a 1/4" layer of really soft foam that I had laying around, to "absorb" any irregularities in the surface of the foam. Then put the cover back on.

It was probably over priced, because it was really such a small job for the upholstery people, but at a $100 I was happy enough with the end product...
