Could someone with a 2014 or newer Ultra Classic or Ltd please measure the width of their stock seat at the widest point across the passenger section. I am looking at purchasing a takeoff seat from a newer Ltd to replace a worn out torn seat on an earlier 2012 model. I know the seats changed profile slightly with the introduction of the Rushmore bikes and while the newer seat will fit my frame I want to be sure that it will fit ok between the speaker pods on the tourpak as that changed also. Thanks in advance.
Thanks TG....I should be good. The older seats prior to 2014 are actually wider at about 16in across and I think the speakers are spaced a bit further apart on the older tourpaks also.
Appreciate your time and help!
For what it's worth, I bought a used Sundowner for my 2016 Ultra Classic. I did some research and found there is a different part number Sundowner seat for "08-'13 models is #52093-08A, and '14 and later models is #52000128.
They have different sizes per the HD fitment guide:
#52093-08A seat has width of 16" and pillion width of 14"
#52000128 seat has width of 14.5" and pillion width of 13"
I wanted the wider seat, and found a used #52093-08A seat on eBay. I bought it for my 2016 Ultra Classic. It fit fine, no issues that I can remember....
I've since changed to a different seat, but here is a pic of my bike with the '08-'13 Sundowner on a '16 Ultra Classic...
Thanks for sharing your experience Hattitude. From what I can tell...the 2009 thru 2013 stock touring seats are wider thru the rider section but more narrow at the back or passenger section.
I held the newer Rushmore seat next to my original seat (2012 Ltd) and its obvious that the passenger seating area is much wider on the newer seat. I did try it on for fitment so just to clear things up for anyone else who may consider this in the future and do a search on this topic...the newer seats will fit the motorcycle as the frames are the same BUT the seat is too tight between the speakers. It can be forced into place between the speakers but over time the seat will be damaged and worn thru especially under the weight of a passenger. The tourpak speakers are perhaps an inch closer together on the pre-Rushmore bikes. I opted out of purchasing the seat so I will look for a different replacement over the winter months.
