Default Lowering Blocks

Is it a bad idea to use lowering blocks to lower my 17 SGS an inch. Looking for positive and negative feedback
Thanks

What's the reason for lowering it.

Better to have the seat modified by reducing an inch, narrow nose so legs are closer to vertical increasing reach and possibly move back of seat up an inch also. Mean City Cycles can handle all of that, excellent and fast service.

I will second the Mean City Seats..... I have 30" inseam.... they worked my seat over on my 2013 Street Glide and that helped alot! Narrowed the front, changed foam in seat area to lower. Worked well, I could flat foot. I was gonna keep my old seat and use on my 2021 Street Glide, but after sitting on it a couple times, I could flat foot the new one well. If memory serves, I tried a lowering kit back in '14 or '15 on the older SG and they seemed to clunk and move around a bit. I may have missed a step, but I took those off after first ride. You may have different results. but this is my take.

Lowering blocks wouldn't be a issue but lowering a low bike another inch could be!

Have thicker soles put on your boots.

Not a fan of lowering blocks, If you keep bottoming out the rear suspension, you will shred the rear harness that runs under the rear fender.

Your SGS is already lowered 1", I would not go any lower. As others mentioned, get a different seat. I went to a SGS CVO seat which lowered me about an inch.

Not a fan of lowering blocks either. When I bought my King, I put the profile low shocks on and it lowered the bike about an inch front and rear. Still couldn't flat-foot. Then I had MCC mod my seat. Was much better but can quite flat-foot. My heels would be about 1/4"-1/2" off the ground. Got 12" Ohlins from Howard and with the proper setup and sag, I can now flat foot.
