I was told here in CA that the cost for just tensioners would typically be $800-$1,000 depending on hourly rates.
I'm not sure you can find a shop worth going to that has a rate less than $150/hour these days.
Super simple DIY job. A set of lifters, new adjustable pushrods and chain adjusters, and new pushrod tube o-rings and a cam cover gasket. Plenty of online videos.

I agree with this although I have to admit one man's simple is another's kind of difficult. But if you have a place to do the work, I'd say go for it. Any special tools you may need are available on ebay and fairly inexpensive. I'm currently rebuilding and evo (I am not a wrench by training) and I found the ebay cam bearing puller/ installer tool to be every bit as good as the expensive name brands.
So order the parts and give her a go. The weather is probably crap where you are anyway.
Several years back when my '04's tensioners were replaced by my local independent shop it was $1,500, he used the Screaming Eagle Kit, which includes a better oil pump.
After reading about the potential for major damage with the early TC tensioners, I had my '03 done shortly after I bought it using the H-D Screaming Eagle Cam Plate kit as mentioned. Better oil pump with the newer style Hydraulic Cam Tensioners. That was in 2017 and I seem to recall it was right around $1100 which included the Cam Plate and bearings.
