Default Wrapped exhaust

I'm looking at this bike for sale at a dealership, it has a wrapped exhaust. I'm guessing the factory heat shields would've been removed, can anyone tell? I can't for the life of me understand why these wraps appeal to people. Let me know what you think.

Ahh, good to know. This bike is a 2015 with 1,800 miles so hopefully it's not too bad.

Yes, eyes fell out! However I see some sets on evilBay which include the header for $150-250. I'm using as leverage to see if I can get them down on the price.

Many people say wrapping the head pipe will cause the metal to fatigue from the heat that can't escape. The result is a cracked pipe, weld or joint.

You might look at a few of the major companies that offer HD exhaust and see what their option is on warranty on their pipes that have been wrapped like that.

I've never been a fan of the look, but obviously appeal varies. Or perhaps that's why it only has 1800 miles on it!

The theory of wrapped pipes on race bikes was to aid in scavenging cylinder fill on 70s and 80s bikes. Or so I was told back then. Racers used to replace the wraps frequently. FI bikes no longer need that scavenging assistance with the direct port injection dominant today.

I would negotiate for a new (or take offs) complete system. Or at least the head pipes.
