I know everyone will jump all over me for this but I decided to do the responsible thing and leave the stock pipes on my FLHRI. I had modified SE’s on my 02 FLSTC and when going through a park or somewhere like that I always felt like I was disturbing the peace. I have been riding quite a few years and have had 15 different bikes. I see that the noise issue is really starting to heat up again. I want to keep on enjoying the open road and I know that the non riding public is really starting to take issue with noise. Even my latest V-twin sport bike is quiet. My last V-twin sport bike was a street/track bike with full race exhaust. When I started it in my driveway, the chandelier in my living room would rattle; unfortunately every cop in the neighborhood also knew I was going out on it (I think you get the picture). Since I’m not trying to do the “look at me thing” the stock pipes sound just fine to me. I can hear them when I ride and they have a good deep sound. Ok, let the chest thumping begin… LOL

I for one won't be criticizing your choice, dd.
Like it or not, increased pressure from the non-riding public will eventually put an end to excessively loud exhaust systems.

I suppose I'm a bit of a hypocrite because I have changed the mufflers on my '05 FLHTCI in order to free up a few more ponies.
Regrettably, even though I don't consider my mufflers to be as loud as some others, it won't matter.
All modified exhausts will soon be considered illegal in many towns and cities.
You can thank the guys rippin' around with "street sweepers" and "drag pipes", for much of what's going to come down.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to preach; I think everyone has a right to do what they want. AMERICA, GOD LOVE IT!!! What I’m saying is that I remember before the coming of the Harley Davidson Boutiques. Back then a motorcycle shop was just that; they sold bikes and bike parts with maybe a few leather jackets in corner. Most riders worked on their own bikes. You were looked at as trash by the public if you rode a bike but you were pretty much ignored. Bikers were a small minority. I think it is great that bikes and riders are getting the positive public exposure they are today and that more and more people are riding. Unfortunately, along with the exposure and increased popularity comes a negative exposure also.

"Street sweepers" and "drag pipes" Are way to loud,,, Your bike alone should bring you the looks... not the pipes.....
