So, I'm looking into putting 16" apes on my 01 Ultra and am having a hell of a time finding the 10+ steel braided throttle cables for my bike. It seems that there are different cables for bike with the Marelli Fi, that difference having to do with having cruise and not having cruise. So my question is this....what the hell is so different simply by having or not having freakin cruise control?!?!!!!
The idler cable for bikes with cruse control have a throttle roll off switch built into them to kill the cruse on throttle roll off. It would still work on a non cruse bike. The switch would just not be hooked to anything.

So then, would it be safe to assume that I would still have my cruise, I just wouldn't have that "roll-off" safety switch there to cut the cruise when I go to accelerate?

Yes. The cruse control will function without the safety roll off switch. Probably not the best option to go without it. Its all fine and dandy until something happens fast and the extra second or two of shutting down your cruse would have made the difference. Not to preach, we all know theres not much forgiveness when crashing on two wheels.

Of course the answer is you want all safety gear. But I can't remember the last time I canceled the cruise by twisting the throttle backward! Usually it's the forward brake lever. Once in a while the rear brake pedal.
