C'mon. The '08s are out, on the floor now, with IDS. IDS is not going to magically appear on prior year models.
If it's an issue for you, just bite the bullet, pay for the damned thing and have it installed. Problem fixed. Forum now rid of specious complaints about IDS.

My impression he feels it's the latter explanation. In three conversations with him I've never gotten the impression he feels there is a serious problem with the drivetrain on these bikes, but does acknowledge the clattering.
If people stopped keeping up with the Joneses, there wouldn't be lab rats for HD. Doh.. I shouldn't have said that. We need guinea pigs. 2009, it will be a "standard luxury item" included with the bike. Buy a new one next year and "tada"!
