I am new to the Roadking. Always had a SG or RG. Now we are building a California cholo style bike for short rides. I want to put a set of fishtails on. But dont know what length to go with. I don't want super long. I have the stock head pipe off the 04 king we have. But it is a Y head pipe. Do I run that? Or get true dual head pipes. Looking at options. This will be another fun build. Last two was a fun build, the Sg I raked and put a 26" wheel, then the RG I did the pit bull fat tire. Now time to do this Cholo. Any pics and let me know what length tail you did.
These are 36" for a visual reference. My experience with fishtails started with me running Bassani true duals and Samson cholo fishtails (with baffle) on a 2017 M8 RKS. After upgrading the cam to the S&S 465 I noticed that the fishtails with the true duals resulted in loss of low end torque. Now Im run the Fuel Moto headers with straight pipe eBay fishtails (inexpensive ones, straight pipe) and it sounds insane and gives me the Vicla look. Kept my FM slip-ons in case I ever decide to go back to normal.
I like 33 to 36" also if you stick to smaller diameter pipes it will be more raspy vs the bigger dia pipes. Miss the sound when I would come down the mountain.

Thats a good looking scoot. What length are the slip on's? And you recommend me staying with the stock head pipe?

Looking at the exhaust and new laced twisted spoke for the wheels. Still trying to decide on paint. Do I want multi color, Or a single color. Thats the hard decision.
Denis1227: I think staying with the stock pipe over true duals is a good idea. With M8s and fishtails there's most likely gonna be some loss of torque. My experience was that true dual headers only made it worse. My Fuel Moto pipe (like the stock headers) is more constrictive regarding air flow which my 107 seems to do better with than with the true duals. In the end its best to get your set-up (whatever you go with) dyno-tuned to ensure best air/fuel ratios and overall performance. Best of luck on your build Bro!
