My engine guards are not the mustache guards, in fact they look identical to the engine guards on my '95 Road King.

I got the HD Wind Splitter 10" and it does a great job of canceling out the buffeting. The local dealership has loaners that they will put on your bike and let you take for a test ride. I did that with several before nailing this one. I know some will think that 10" is too tall, but the top comes to my mustache and I have no problems looking over it. They have it in other sizes as well. Just another datapoint.

That is something to consider. Freedom measures from the top of the fairing up to the top of the shield making the stock HD shield under five inches. LRS measures from the middle of the center mounting screw up to the top of the shield, which makes the stock shield 5.5 inches. So a Freedom 6" is a little more than an inch taller than the stock shield while a 6" LRS is only a half inch taller than stock. Also, a seven inch Freedom is only a half inch shorter than an 8" LRS. Of course it isn't just height that helps the aftermarket shields. The stock shield drops much more as you move away from the center and the recurve shape is supposed to push the air higher than the stock design.

I have the same guard you have. What brand fangs you have? It looks like some brands connect further back on the fork which would make them hit on sharp turn. I'm going off what this particular review said. But it seems like yours are far enough in front of your forks to clear lock to lock?

HD fork mounted wind deflectors (“fangs”) . https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...rs/p/57400146A
If you get them, beware there are two varieties that don’t fit the same bikes but look identical in their pictures. Easy to order order wrong

I have had great results with LRS , my only disappointment is they don’t offer a 7” windshield on their website now

Agree completely. I have a LRS 7" on my 13 SG and wanted to put one on my 17 SG. Seen the same thing on their website so called to get an exact measurement of the 6" and 8". Left a message. No answer back yet.

8” Freedom Shield and HD fork fangs are gettin it done.
Mustang Part # 79538
Vintage Super Touring Seat

The description says it sits back 1.75" but it's also taller.

I also have the fork deflectors from Harley on my 2019 SGS. I had to get them powder coated, Harley may have them in black now.

Seven inch Freedom is on. Huge difference. It is noticeably taller than the stock shield when in the saddle, but I'm still looking over it out on the road. It is also much thicker than the stock shield. Optics are good when you do have to look through it.
