Default 2011 High torque Starter help

Good day , My 2011 TC was built up to 124 and now i have issues on occasions try to start it. it seems struggles due to the higher compression . I have factory auto compression release activated since it's stock on my 2011 103 motor. I know stock Starter is 1.4 KW but was looking for 1.7KW but seems it does not exist after 2006 Model year HD... any suggestions of a strong starter vs OEM ? Does the BIG ***** 1.4KW make a big difference from stock OEM ? I'm running 9F Cams and compression approx 11.4. 132HP @ 163 TQ

FWIW...

I have a 2016 with S&S 124 crate engine at 10.6:1 compression. It doesn't have the OEM heads w/compression releases, but uses S&S easy start cams. The factory starter spins it over well, cold or hot, as long as the battery is good..

I use a Yuasa GYZ32HL battery with 500CCA.

Before changing starters, maybe first check your battery status and/or get a good, high CCA battery. Check your battery & starter terminals and grounds are tight and clean. Also check that the battery/starter cables are in good condition... corrosion in/on the cables will restrict current flow...

Good luck and enjoy that 124"....!

Just because you have them does not mean they are active.
It is more common than it should be for a tuner to turn off the ACRs while dyno tuning and forget to turn them back on.
I would start there.

I will plead ignorance on this, always believed ACRs were totally deactivated once the engine was running. Why would a tuner disable them disable them for a dyno tune? Even so, ACRs not working was my first reaction. How can functionality be confirmed by a shade tree owner?

How was your engine tuned..? Do you have the tuner?

The compression release status can be checked, enabled, or disabled by a tuner (like a PowerVision) or one of the aftermarket devices like Twin Scan IV, or Centurion by TechnoResearch... If you have a relationship with your dealership, their Digital Tech can do all that too....

But first you may want to double check that they are plugged in properly and/or the connections are clean and in good shape...

You can test to see if the CR's are working. Remove the sparkplugs and see if that improves starter performance. If so
you need to turn them on via a tuner. Or check the wiring to them. If not you probably have a weak battery or poor connection somewhere.

I always thought that the acr's were only active when the fuel pump was priming. Their primary function was to relieve any "left-over" compression. This was told to me by a local shop. Can't really find much online about their cycle/operation.
