OP - For your bike, the fangs will help divert wind off your knees. But it wont be a cure all.
I ride in upstate NY. Im closer to Canada than NYC. And I snowmobile. So I know cold. That and I have a bit of reduced circulation in my legs.
I never did like chaps. Too cumbersome to zipper for my fat butt.
I discovered Carhart Insulated jeans years ago. I wear them motorcycling and snowmobiling. I have a 3XX pair to pull over light jeans if Im going somewhere where Ill be doing a lot of walking. For me they pull on & off faster than chaps.
I also have snowmobile bibs. They make nice quality thin ones these days. No more Michelin Man look.
Tight pants should be avoided. Layers with air is a better insulator. And you already know to reduced the effect of wind chill. Good luck and let us know what worked for you.
Living in Alabama I wouldn't have considered this option but I picked up a pair of ski pants in a FB Marketplace package deal. I believe they are a neoprene type fabric. I don't wear them often but they help especially if I slip a pair of sweat pants between my jeans and the ski pants.
Yeah, I'm not big on wearing anything more than jeans. May consider the long johns but other than that I don't get into the whole chaps or bike suit thing. Just didn't want to waste money on those other wind deflectors if they wouldn't help that situation. Thanks guys.
The triple tree deflector keeps a little wind from coming up and over the front of the tank but will do nothing for your knees, I have one on my bike. I have no experience with any lower fairing deflectors but like you, the wind, rain hits me right in the knee caps. My BMW RT is FAR superior for wind protection, it almost puts me in a bubble, nothing hits me below the neck, wish the ol Harley offered the same!
I use riding jeans with in built crash protection knee pads. The knee pads provide an extra layer of protection from the cold wind blast and can be removed when the weather is hotter.
