Had the needle dancing crap. Replaced the parts in the tank first and filters. Still dancing.
ordered a new gauge and when I plug the new one in it doesn't work.
Is there some magic to marry the gauge to the bike? It just stays dead on empty.
I plugged the old one back in and it still dances.
I'm thinking I got a bad gauge from the dealer.
On a softail I had, after removing the gauge, I had all sorts of issues with improper or intermittent gauge readings. I know it's a different gauge set up, but I believe it has a similar connector plug into the harness, if I remember correctly. One of the gauge connector plug pins got bent as I was plugging in the gauge... The gauge didn't work well for awhile...
I finally inspected that plug-in connector, found the bent pin, re-pinned the connector, and all is well...
Well if I was smart enough to read I might have saved myself some grief.
