'04 RKC motor mount is broken again. Second time in 2 years and 13,000 miles. Has anyone replaced the stock mount with a Velva Ride? I'm open for suggestions.
Jeff
I haven't broken a motor mount, but I did have the upper mount bolts come loose and actually lost the rear mount bolt. Caused a real serious wobble at highway speed. I had 30,000 miles at the time and HD manual says to check every 10,000 miles.
I just had the front motor mount replaced at the 5000 mile service. Service guy said it was a known problem on the '06 models and replaced it with a new or improved version. Needs to be watched though as you never can tell 'less you DIY.
please excuse the stupid question, but I have had several comments made to me about my engine. I'm on an '05 RKC and the motor vibrates like a son of a gun compared to other 88 inch motors....is that a mount?
Comment made earlier in this thread makes me wonder what makes certain engines virbrate more than others. I have a stage 1 and Vance and Hines, however, it was the same vibration when brand new with stock set up.
My front motor mount broke comming home on highway 66 somewhere between Williams, AZ and Las Vegas. I know of 6 other guys in my HOG chapter that have had their motor mounts broken and replaced. My motor mount was sandwitched by the time I got to Las Vegas. I could feel a lot of vibrations in the floor boards. Look at your front motor mount, If there isn't a gap between the rubber doughnut and the top metal plate, you have problems.
