Default 1999 flh performance issues

I got a 99 flh that has a s&s 509 cam, twin tec single fire ignition, a mikuni carb and true dual exhaust (dont know the brand). The bike revs up fast but thats really it. It revs up but seems like the power is not getting transferred to the rear wheel. The rear wheel is not slipping or anything and i do not feel the clutch slipping. Any suggestions would help. I can put a cv carburetor back on it if that wouls help.

A true dual exhaust hurts performance. The 509 is torque cam, it’s never going to seem fast but it probably pulls well from a start even when loaded down.

If you want to go fast. You’re going to have to ditch the exhaust and cam and get your checkbook out. Call Fuel Moto or https://www.hillsidecycle.com

The mikuni is a performance carb.
It sounds like your clutch is slipping....

In gear, with the clutch engaged, if the rpms increase, the speed should increase...

In the context of your description of the issue, sure sounds like something is slipping.... tire, clutch, or drive belt..

The tire and drive belt should be easy to spot if they are slipping, so I would suggest it's time to check your clutch...

Good luck and report back what you find...

You can open up the clutch inspection cover (derby) cover and check to ensure the the bolt is seated correctly to far in or out it would cause the clutch to not work properly.here is a video. Not saying this is the issue but its something you can check at least
