RG ST owners

Aesthetics aside, as it comes, if the seat works for you, it will tour as well as a RG / RGS, with the advantage of the 117 engine, high flow exhaust and the 13" shocks as found on the Ultra/Limited and Road King. I've rented a 2020 Ultra for a week.and the 13" shocks are tolerable, while the 12" shock as found on the RG/RGS leave a lot to be desired. I had the shocks changed out on my bike within 3 weeks of purchase. HD markets this as a performance bagger, but really, it's all about the engine. Anyone remotely serious in taking this bike into performance bagger territory while be replacing the suspension. ST's 13" are notably better than the 12", but lacking compared to just about any aftermarket alternative. I put the HD Torque Cam Stage II setup in my bike, and based on my dyno (95hp / 110ft lbs), and those from Full Moto, the power curves and levels are almost identical to the ST'e stock enginel. It's a fun engine
I sat on one at my local dealer and the seating position was notably different from my 107's seat, that's also on the RGS. IIRC, it was a smidge lower than the RG/RGS and maybe skosh forward. Especially from a touring perspective, I wonder how the AC is in the rain. When I got my bike, I had also test ridden the new Low Rider ST, which shares the 117 engine with the RG ST. As mentioned, it's a fun engine.
With ergo tweaks to suite (bars, windshield, seat), IMHO this bike is a suspension change away from a kick *** touring bike.
Having said that, out of the box, outside of the engine, the Ultra is a better deal for a 2up touring bike, and the 114 ain't no slouch.
oh, and btw, the gearing is the same.
