Kinda sad to admit this, but after putting about 1500 miles on my new (to me) 2021. its totally stock powerplant/exhaust wise, and I'm thinking it's going to largely stay that way. This is the first bike I've ever ridden with a stock exhaust - maybe I'm just getting old now - the wife and I find ourselves pretty content with things. Coming from the 07. everything is just - IMO - improved. So much so that neither of us is feeling a major urge to change it up.
That being said, I came across the FM "stock" tune upgrade. I already have a PV from my old bike, all I would really need is a new cable and a license. which makes it pretty tempting to try. Sounds a tad hypocritical to say I'm not changing anything and then asking about a tune. but there's also the bang for the buck aspect. and IMO it's dumb to pass up easy gains if they don't affect other things.
Just wondering if anyone here has tried it and has any comments/feedback as to gains/gas mileage changes/seat of the pants feel as a result.
I am watching this to learn also. My 1989 ElectraGlide was great with a Ev13 torque cam, headwork and dialed in carb. My 2002 ElectraGlide was okay, but not as good as my 1989. But I had health issues that curtailed my riding for a couple years. Now I have a 2019 FLHTP with the 114 engine. It does everything I want it to do very well.
Is there "free" power available? Hhmmm...I'd like to know also. But really would like better fuel mileage.
I don't have experience with an M8, but I have a PowerVision for my Twin Cams, and also added a couple good friend's bikes to the tuner with a license...
Just as FWIW...
One friend was thinking of Stage I, so he added his 2014 Ultra Limited to my tuner... While waiting to get the parts for his Stage I, I flashed his bike with the FuelMoto Improved Stock Tune, for his bike...
I flashed his bike with that tune 4 years ago... He is still all OEM with that FuelMoto stock tune... He liked the improvement enough, that he decided not to go ahead with the Stage I upgrade... I think he is at about 50K miles...
However, I have heard that the M8 bikes don't run as lean from the factory as the Twin Cams did.... So I don't know if that will affect the amount of change you would feel on an M8...
One advantage of using the FuelMoto tune.... If you notice a specific tune issue, you can run a datalog with the PV tuner, send it to FuelMoto with an explanation of the tune issue, and they will tweak the tune, and send it back... I had them do that for a tune that was having some spark knock at high heat (105°)... They tweaked the tune per a data log I sent them, and no more issue...
Good luck with your decision...

I have a friend who is running the FM "Stock-improved" tune and says it was a noticeable upgrade. Actually improved his fuel economy and throttle response.
If that's all you're looking to do, I would recommend waiting until your factory warranty has expired before throwing a tune on it. The small gains are nice, but not worth putting your warranty in jeopardy.
Looking at Fuel Motos site, there seem to be very little improvement over a stock M8.
True, it's about 6-7%. something like 3 hp and 7tq. but at sub $200 out of my pocket to get there, didn't seem so bad, and is what made me write the post.
I did a stock improved tune on a 107 from FM via Powervision to try to remedy some pinging issues. Since I figured I had scuttled the remaining factory warranty I went ahead and decatted the head pipe to reduce felt heat, and changed air cleaners, just because I liked the way the HD Ventilator Air cleaner looks (same as 114s I believe). Was already running 2 inch baffles welded in from Fullsac. So I had a stage 1, even though I hadn’t planned on doing a stage 1.
