KB = FLHX Street Glide

N = Twin Cam 103"

E = 2014

The last 5 digits should match the last 5 digits on the VIN of the 2014 FLHX Street Glide that engine was installed in at the factory...

Any good VIN decoder has the info...

On 1981 and up bikes, the engine number (EIN) shares the same info as the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) from the bike the factory installed it in....

The one exception is there is a special EIN digit to identify a crate engine, never installed in a bike. I don't have my notes nearby, so I can't share it at this time..

The VIN is 17 Digits, the EIN is a shorter version with only 10 digits...

Here is the breakdown for the EIN:

First two digits of the EIN are the same as the VIN model code. (VIN model code are digits #5 & #6)

Third digit of the EIN is the same as the VIN engine code. (VIN engine code is digit #7)

Fourth digit of the EIN is the same as the VIN year code. (VIN year code is digit #10)

The last 6 digits of the EIN will be numbers. They will match the last six numbers (production number) of the VIN on the bike it was installed into at the factory.

I hope that info helps.

PS- I just checked my notes. If the last six numbers of an EIN, start with the number "9".... That means the engine is an off-the-shelf engine, NOT associated with a motorcycle production number... or basically the engine was sold as a crate engine from the factory.

This info was provided to me by a fellow forum member when he had an EIN that started with a number "9" in the last six numbers. He called Harley customer service and they told him the above info.

Default Engine idenification

Hi guys,
I have a 08 road King with a unknown motor (long story and I've hit to many road blocks to get a straight answer), it is a Harley motor but not sure on the size or what model it has come out of and unable to find any online resource to work it out myself.
Engine number is GYME308527 and located in Australia if that makes any difference.

GY = FXDF (Fat Bob)

M = Twin Cam 103"

E = 2014

308527 = the last six numbers of the VIN (production number) on the motorcycle the engine was installed in when it left the factory.

Your engine started life as a 103" Twin Cam from a 2014 Dyna Fat Bob. The production number (last 6 of the VIN) of the Fat Bob it came out of was 308527.
