Default push Rod Tappet

Push rod tappets are out but cannot remember which way the little hole faces.
I think I placed them in the holder I made the right way but it has been over a week since taking the cam chain tensioners out.
HELP!
Thanks,
Doug

I think a lot of us are in trouble for just dropping them in.
Seriously, There is an oil grove all around the lifter.

I see engine builders on videos talking about putting the hole to the rear, but it will get oil either way.

Hmmmm... On my twin cams, the lifter oil holes face inboard or outboard, perpendicular to the lifter rollers, not front or rear...

In any case, hole orientation doesn't matter on a twin cam engine...

Would have to look at my service manual but am pretty sure it says inboard on the holes.

You are correct that the Service Manual says inboard... Some believe that may be a holdover from the EVO days... IIRC, the EVO lifters needed the oil hole to be facing inboard...

There are those who will argue that since the oil feeds into the lifter bores from the inside of the case, that the best, fastest way for the liters to fill, is placing the oil hole inboard...

There are however, numerous engine builders, more knowledgeable than myself, who say it doesn't matter on a Twin Cam which way the oil holes are facing.. They say the lifters will fill just fine, and operate just fine, with the oil holes facing inboard or outboard...

FWIW... I always put my oil holes inboard as directed, but if I forgot which way I installed them, or realized I installed one with the oil hole outboard.... I wouldn't bother to take the bike apart to change it...

I just replaced my lifters in a 14 Street Glide with S&S. As per Direction and the way I took it apart holes were inboard.
I have a little over 900 miles since I worked on it and everything's fine.
in fact I installed that mr-103cam.
I have never owned a bike with a better sounding valve train than this one right this minute.

How's the mr103 doing? Torn between that, andrews 57h and a woods 222 or 555. Yall would laugh your asses off about what a parts counter guy tried telling me the other day.
