Default buffeting help

I have been trying to minimize the buffeting on my '06 street glide. the mini windshield was throwing everything right at my head. mved up to a 10" windshield and added some Freedom Wings, adjustabel deflectors on the end of the fairing. Seemed to solve most of the issue. Last week i was riding and noticed that there was an air flow coming up between the fairing and gas tank. I picked up the Front Fork Air Baffle at the dealers last weeknd P/N 58520-79TC. Rode is some good strong winds south of Boston yesterday and noticed this really did make a big difference. This is my first toeuring bike, but as I undersand it, this part was standard equip in prior years.

I just bought the wings for the ends of the batwing fairing and waiting on them. I'm only bumping the windshield up to a 6" as i like the look of the short darksmoke shield. Interesting about the Fork Air Baffle you mentioned. I'm gonna have to look into that.

Do you have any pics of the Baffle installed?

Thanks,
Cheyenne

no pics yet. it's a $25- $30 part. 2 screws hold it in place, about a 2 minute install.

Mike,

The fork air baffle you are talking about was standard on the EVO engines. I have heard, and this is just rumor, that on the twincam this baffle is not recommended because the Twincam runs hotter than the EVO, and the baffle creates heat issues.

I bought one for my new EG Classic before the bike even got home, and after I got the information about heat I took it off. Supposedly the reason it is not on the new bikes is because the MoCo realized there was a heat issue?? I figured they quit putting it on because of a $$ issue.

Regards,

Bill

I have a stock 05 RKC & have been out in some very windy day & found min issues with wind. I would think the more "stuff" you put on to block/divert the wind would/may have a push effect on the bike (not to mention said heat issues). What have you guys found on this?

Bill -

thanks for the feedback. I looked up a string about this topic on another forum, and as you might guess, there was a wide divergence of opinion as to whether this is a good or bad addition.

Thanks

Mike

Glad I spotted this thread as I was thinking about getting this part. Think I'll still get it for the cold weather and then remove it when temps get above 60 degrees or so...especially if it's a 2 minute job.
