2012 RK. need some views on fork oil, handling and ride. I believe the standard oil is 5wt? Mine is as i believe is common a soggy wallower at the front. I have previously had good results with intimators on triumphs but after countless e-mails have had no response. So, what is a good weight to use 10, 15 to limit dive and smooth out reactions. At the present i am only changing oil. my weight 250lbs. occasionally camping add 70lbs to rear.
Since you have a RK that's easier to change fluid on I would try 10 weight. Going from 5 to 10 will make a big difference. What will slow down the drive will also slow compression on bumps that may make the ride too harsh.
Did my forks last year , used 10w , made a big difference in front dive , still a little dive , but definitely not as harsh as 5w . I also did my rear shocks as well with 10w , didn't feel much of a difference there , I just keep my air pressure down from what I used to keep it at .
My only advice , is to pick up a new set of screws , you may need to use a pair a vice grips to get the old ones off , with the top caps off , let it drain into two separate jars over night . I used 4 jars , filled the other two with the exact same amount and marked them R / L . After it had drained , I then used some new oil to flush out the remaining old oil , about 4 ounces . I used a scissor lift to raise the front end off the ground while doing it .
