not for the whim. if you follow the instructions for the install, the cable is routed to your right hand side cover. if, however, you don't see the point in removing the fuel tank to install the whim, some of us with roadglides have coiled the excess cable up and stashed it in the right side fairing speaker cubby.
i should note here that there has only been one upgrade for the whim since they've released it. so not something that you have to do often.
Skratch, do you have a pic of the rolled up whim cable in the speaker cubby? I'm installing a whim this week in mine and looking for alternative to under the right side cover as I have my Trask vent installed in there.
OP, not looking to hijack your thread, just needed a pic if available.
once connected all controls are done from the bars or HU, did you try turning down the volume from the Hu or the bars joystick?
Yessir, I tried. No noise IF I can recall correclty (can't check now as I am 10 000 km away).

Just brainstorming.
Can you describe the noise.
White noise - not exactly like FM but I think it is the closest description of it.
Connects to the phone, dead silent.
Connects to the radio, it pops up.
What I could add is it feels like it comes from the microphone - I am not sure how to describe it - it is a bit like an overly sensitive microphone would be on, sending it to the HU and then back to the headphones.

So, in wireless mode with sena headsets connected to HD headunit via the whim...
Phone also connected to headunit via Bluetooth, not connected to sena headset, right. Then phone works via HD headunit, whim, and sena headset. If it is this way, I don't think there is a problem with whim or headset.
Does fm radio play through speakers without noise? With fm being played through speakers, does sena work for nav and phone through headsets?
If noise on fm through speakers, I'd check antenna connection on back of radio, under tourpak, and inside tour pak. May try different antenna on outside of tourpak.
Check out settings on your headset. If Im not mistaken sena has noise cancellation mode in which mic is active all the time, or maybe it was mode to always listen for voice commands.

i just happened to have my fairing off yesterday doing something else so i was able to snag these pics for you. it's hard to tell with the spaghetti of wiring up there, but i drew a yellow line for you to follow. coming off the whim, across the top to a void next to the volt gauge where you coil up the excess, then over top of the voltage gauge, down into the speaker area.

Also, does xm work. Channel 0.
Phone connected via USB cable, Sena via BT to the WHIM (radio) - all to enable CarPlay.
Yes, FM radio or anything else plays nicely through speakers and yes, nav and phone work through headset (with noise) - that's the way it is all set up now.
Don't have any -pak installed yet.
Don't have XM or CB - it's European version.
