I have a 2021 EGS with ABS. If I want to get different wheels, what do I need to know? The wheels I like would be take offs from models such as CVO or RG/SG special. I like the black wheels. I see lots of them for sale in used condition.
What do I need to be aware of? Seems like there's a few options. I see 16, 18 and 19". ABS vs non-ABS. Dual disk vs single.
So I imagine I can't just swap out any 20XX and up touring wheels?
If anyone is familiar with my wheels (stock 2021 EGS) and can shed light on what other model sizes/options will be a direct replacement, that would be swell.
Make sure the axle size is the same, the rotor mounts are the same, or you'll need new rotors, and dual obviously. To make it easy on yourself, get anything from 2014 and up with ABS. I did this same swap maybe six months ago.

Nice!!
I've seen some listings state "will fit 2009 and up". Did the axle size change in 2014?

Preach it!
Keep an eye on the rotor mounts for sure. I got wadded up in that mess this year, and I am now going to purchase a set of the ST wheels. Have to buy different rotors, apparently

In 2009 they changed from 1" to 25mm axles. I'm more concerned with your rotors fitting properly. There are hub mount and radial mount. Yours and mine are radial mount.

Dude, I have been receiving and sending back Arlen Ness oversize wave rotors to Dennis Kirk for the last 14 months. It is ridiculous. I ordered the hub mount, and they keep sending radial. I finally got refunded last week after the 4th return shipment.
My dealer says the new ST wheels are radial mount, so this is going to be like a $3000 endeavor

I've never heard of "radial" mount rotors. I believe you are confusing that with radial mount calipers.
The two styles of rotors that I am aware of are hub mount and "spoke" mount.
Hub mount rotors are the smaller diameter of mounting location (mounting directly to the wheel hub)
Spoke mount rotors are the larger diameter outwards of the actual wheel hub (left wheel in picture - the right wheel is hub mount)
The rotor mounting will have no affect on a wheel fitting your bike, just simply whether or not you will need a different style of rotor based on the mounting.
