Default Back to OEM

Good Morning i just have a question to clear the air between the wife and I, I currently have a 2008 RK with stage 1 Air Filter and DNA full exhaust 2 into 2 pipes. I love the sound , the wife doesn't she says is too loud, I told her is cheaper to leave it the way it is. She says i should i go back to the OEM pipes (GRRRRR) i told her i would have to re tune the bike ($600) +/- , If and only IF i was to considered going back to OEM pipes will I truly have to retuned the bike?

Buy your wife earplugs. Even my Screaming Eagle Street Cannons were too loud for my wife, so she wore earplugs. But, to this day, she didn’t know I installed them in place of the OEM slip ons. I told her they got louder as they broke in.

Yes, you'd have to re-tune. Shouldn't be $600+ unless you don't have the tuner.

Have you considered fiberglass wrap on the baffles? That should tone it down a bit.

I hope you can talk her into keeping it as-is. I don't have to have the loudest bike in town, but after being used to the sound of a good exhaust on my last bike, the initial miles I've put on my new bike with stock pipes while waiting on the HPI lead time have been pretty painful. I absolutely hate the stock exhaust.

Indeed - hope you can keep it as-is….. - a cheaper option would be to get some inexpensive foam earplugs for the wifey 😉

I thought my true dual rineharts were too loud. But my wife tells me they are just right.
The right kind of loud. (Whatever that means)
On the highway the wind is louder than the pipes.

This deosn't help at all, but when my wife complained about my loud pipes, I told her to go go buy her own bike. She did. Then I got the seat I wanted too.
