Which is a better 12" shock w/STD springs assuming one can get both for a steal; the Revo A's or the Progressive 990-2001 black sport shocks w/ remote resivoir? The Progressive seem to have more adjsutability than the Revos but would like to hear real world experience (or pre winter fighting)

Personally won’t run any progressive products on anything I own ever again.

your experience may differ, but I installed some Progressive 430’s on my dyna… and it rode AWFUL. So much so that I put stock shocks back on. They were standard springs, but even with the preload backed all the way off I couldn’t get the sag setting I desired and called for by progressive (1/3 of the travel) I contacted Progressive about getting them resprung so I could get proper sag. They were having none of it and the only help they wanted to offer was telling me to reset my sag. After I explicitly told them that wasn’t possible as I already backed off them off as much as the shock allowed to try and get the sag.

So I’ve come to the conclusion that Progressive only wants to offer an “out of the box” shock(s) for people in hopes that it works for you and tough stuff if it doesn’t. Whereas I believe Legends/revo offers a shock that is better tailored to each bike they are for and they’re more willing to help you get a correct setup for you.

My only regret so far is not getting the remote reservoir Ohlins when I bought mine, but I'll likely never out ride them. I have been told by people that run their bikes hard to not waste money on either Legends or Progressive specifically. Progressive tends to over set the springs, so order one down from what the website says based on rider weight.

I've heard good things about Legends but took the advice of people riding their bikes and avoided them. One comment in particular said, something to the effect of, you don't see people selling Ohlins to buy Legends.

If they're cheap like you say, either is still an upgrade over stock.

You may want to consider the Pro-Action shocks as well. They are very good. Just another option.

I asked as I am running Revo-A's currently but scored a set of the Progressive 990's STD spring with remote resivoir for $339 new in dirty/open box (they are the real mcoy and are defiantely unused) and wondering if I should sell them for a profit or run the Progressives and sell the Revos. I like the idea of the compression/rebound adjustability in the Progressives over the Revos. I dont run my HD hard, have a WR450 that I spank all the folks at the track with. Just want to know about those two brands. Sofar 1 for Progressives suck. 2 for buy once cry once/get the best.

You say you scored a set of progressives I assume you have them and if that is the case.
Put them on then decide.
