I tried the Ness kit on my Street Glide...it didn't fit, so had to use the SE kit. The backing plate on the Ness kit was off by about 1 inch. They may have a 2006 version of the kit now, but did not back in August.

I was stuck...it was a Saturday afternoon, I had the new mufflers and PowerCommander on. So I ran to the dealership and just bought the SE kit. It is perfectly fine (but about $80 more).

Last I heard the Ness was not being made yet for the 2006 FI. The only problem with the SE is the paper filter element. There have been issues with them coming apart. K&N is now making a replacement filter element Part # 0800, if I'm not mistaken, that can be used to replace the paper element in the SE Kit. You can also get just the filter element for the Ness big sucker and it will fit the SE air cleaner kit.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Bill

Per Danny at Ness, '06 p/n 18-808 due out in about two weeks. But I have read very good things about Doherty powerpacc. And SE backing plates are known to break.

I don't think you are going to gain that much more by using the Arlen ness air cleaners. I'm going with the SE myself.

You may not gain much from the Ness filter, but, it does eliminate the oil blowback from the head vents. The oil is directed back into the intake and burned. No more mess on the engine or pipes.
