While checking price on a new EGC I asked the salesman why have I been reading about so many different down loads for the new bikes. He stated their shop only offers one and it cuts out the rear cylinder when it runs too hot. Another option would be to leave the stock computer program and add an oil cooler. I can't imagine a 20k touring bike running on a single cylinder. Must be a real performer in the hp department.
He also mentioned the $1500 five year extended warranty ( added to the factory 2 year ) is a must have for the expense of todays frequent ( and very expensive ) repairs. The shop rate is $65.00 an hour. He also mentioned parts aren't real inexpensive either. I'm not exactly sure I want to open my wallet and jump into this latest creation.
Not sure what part of the Country your in...well North America actually, but here on the West Coast of Canada at one of the (3 )local dealers the shop rate is $100.00 an hour and parts are expensive!!!
Dont let anyone tell you differant!
Just my .02 worth.

I just purchased the extended warranty for my 07. It adds to the factory front to rear unlimited miles warranty for a total of five years. It cost me $1249. I think it is worth it. I spent that much on cam tensioners last year on the road. If I had had an extended warranty, I would've broken even on this one repair alone. These are Harleys. When they break, they cost a lot to repair. Buy the extended warranty, which by the way is transferrable if you sell.

1. The individual you spoke to may have the position at the dealership described as "salesman" but that individual is no SALESMAN. I am a career sales/marketing professional. There are individuals with the title and there are real SALESMAN. No professional salesman would try and sell an extended warranty for a $20,000 motorcycle based on the high frequency and cost of repairs.
2. Here in Eastern PA the shop rate is $65-$75/hr.
3. He also mentioned parts aren't real inexpensive. Double negative means they are expensive.RIGHT????????? Makes sense to me.
