My two cents. I use 4th to just over 60mph then 5th to just over 70mph then go into 6th. Anything less than 70 mph in 6th and the engine just doesnt feel right.

It has 6 gears. You are supposed to shift into the best gear for the riding conditions. It's not an automatic tranny in a car. It has a clutch and gears. You are the brain.
ACT LIKE IT.
What an assinine and arrogant post.
I didn't think it was arrogant at all. Right on the money.
I put inHD Formula+ transmission and primary lubricant and no,it is not spilling trans fluid.I think that all the chatter thesenew six speed transmissions make in sixth can't be good.My bikesounds and feels so much better now, it's got to begood.
This would not be the first time a manufacturer got it wrong. I put 184,000 miles in six yearson my last BMW 528 (E39). BMW said that the trans (5 sp manual)and diff fluid were lifetime. Some of us in the BMW community went ahead and changed our fluids reguarly anyway. Guess what, my trans and diff were still in my car at 184k and not behind the shop in the junk pile.
In my HMO the original poster of this thread owes all of the 07 owners an apology. He stated our complains ALMOST kept him from buying an 08 which does not have the same problems as the 07's.
The service manager at my dealer told me that the reason that the IDS only fits back to the 07 was because it was supposed to be there. The MOCO bean counters axed it to save corners!
I have no problem with him stating facts and his opion. But before he started spouting off he should have wlked a mile in our shoes. My service manager and all his staff says that the 07's where the biggest screw up in recent Harley history.

Got it off my chest. Thank you.
i would like to see some actual facts to back up those assertions. and if my bike is one of hd 'biggest screw ups', i can't wait to see what happens when they get it right. absolutely no problems with either of the 07s that i own.

I think if a service manager said that he was just telling a angry customer what he wanted to hear and counldn't really belivie it . I love my 07 ultra and have 4 friends who lovethere 07s
Did the 1,000 mile fluid change in my garage tonight on my FLHR. Put 32 ouncesof Mobil 1 75W/90in the tranny. Pulls from 1,800 rpm's in sixth no problem, no chatter.
