Thank you for the posts to my 103ci SE ST Legal Big Bore upgrade. I told the guy at the parts counter that I wanted to do the 110 or 113 upgrade -he asked... why? ...and without skipping a beat suggested that I only do the 103 upgrade. He explained that the 110 and 113 upgrades involve as much cost in labor as they do in parts, and if money was a factor he suggested that I ask around but that he thinks I would be happy with the 103. I told him I wanted different pips and a different breather than comes with the 103 kits, so this is the parts list he gave me with the estimate.
16546-99 3.875" CYLINDER KIT
17045-99C GASKET KIT, CAM SERV
17052-99B GASKET KIT, TOP END
1800-0434 EXHAUST, TRU-DUAL 07
21968-07 KIT, 1690 PISTON, FT
25638-07 SET 255 CAM KIT
29592-05 SE HEAVY BREATHER
32107-01G EFI RACE TUNER KIT
Any Useful comments or suggestions/recommendations are encouraged -remember -useful!
If you go with the race tuner it is married to that bike and can not be used on a different bike there are several tuners out there that can be change if you get rid of the bike. You would be stuck with buying another one if you traded.
I seen in the screamin eagle catalog that theres a 103 kit minus the mufflers, and maybe the breather too? Its a slightly different part number for the kit, and was two or three hundred cheaper. Try 29893-07
just had kit 29893-07 installed on my eglide, i already had true duels and s/e air cleaner and a pciii usb, total cost tax included was 1421.00 which included a custom map. just breaking it in and already notice a big differance.
Skip the hd stuff and go to 113" and use headquarters parts and find a good indy in your area to do the work, I've had enough of the stealer's monkey business. Get a Daytona Twin-Tec ecm system and that will do what you want and much better than MoCo.
dav,
Your estimate looks VERY similar to my own build. As you can see from my signature, I also installed the AIM (hdforums sponsor!) V.P. clutch. Even though H-D has reduced clutch pull for '07, the Stage II kit includes a heavier diaphram spring; one step forward, two steps back? The V.P. clutch offers reduced lever pull along with improved "lock-up". The harderI dump the clutch, the better it engages! Foran extra $245 I feel greatly improved drivability.
To answer your question, my build was just shy of $4K. If you back out the $900 for True Duals, the $245 VP clutch, and the price of the Stage II kit, and miscellaneous bits,I paid $1k labor. All in all, I am very pleased with the results. Good luck with your build!
