I am considering forking out for a full set of Harley heated gear - jacket, pant liner, glove liners and socks. Anyone got this ensemble can give a review as to how good it is?
I used Harley branded and gerbing gear for many years. I ride all winter in temps below freezing. What I’ve found works the best for me is a heated gerbing jacket vs a heated liner and a leather jacket I used previously primarily for convenience (one garment vs two), gerbing heated gloves and ski type socks and underclothes. Never felt the need for heated socks or pant liners. I’m a big fan of 32 heat stuff. Don’t forget a fleece skull cap under the helmet and a quality fleece gaiter that you can pull over your face if needed. I only wear a half helmet 12 months of the year.
Bought the Gerbing stuff - jacket & pants liners, gloves, socks. Remote Velcro-ed to top of left switch housing.
Beow 60 - jacket liners and gloves
Below 50 - pant liners
Below 40 - socks
I've stayed toasty warm down to 28. You get cold when you get off the bike lol.
Good investment.
I have Gerbing gloves and jacket with the dual controller it has allowed me to ride in cold weather in complete comfort. I've had it them for over ten years and I remember when I first got heated gear how I kicked myself for not spending the money earlier. I now live in Florida and it get's little to no use, but I'm glad I have it. BTW I have the Gerbing dual variable controller, can operate the gloves and jacket separately and with infinite adjustment. I've always used over-pants pants to keep my legs warm and never tried heated pants.
I just rode yesterday in mid-30 temps. Batwing fairing by choice.
An older HD heated 12-V liner. Its about 6-yrs old With the push button controller attached.
A pair of slightly used HD heated pants. The one they currently offer. Again, an attached push button controller. More for blocking wind like snowmobile pants. Seat area of pants gets very warm. Legs, not so much.
I bought the Y connector to run them off one power cord.
I use regular leather gloves with my heated grips. I have Power in Motion heated glove liners, but have never needed them on the bike.
I rode HD/Gerbings for 10 years from 2004-2014 while a field employee for HDMC. Never had an issue with any of it. Heated jacket liner, socks, gloves. Over time the socks were never used when I installed lowers on my FLTR's. A full face helmet helps staying warm as well. I rode 10-12 months out of the year while living in Ohio, Illinois, and Missouri ( KC). Good stuff in my opinion.
