I have the stock battery in my 04 Road King that has performed perfectly so far and have started to consider replacement before it is needed to avoid hassles while on the road, other than the dealer what are some other places to get a good battery and / or good batteries you have used or are using ?
exide is made locally here in pa. I beleive? at least they have a ware house full with skids to the ceiling of motorcycle batteries. Ive used them with great success but I may just stick with HD next time for only a few dollars more. piece of mind? better then most?
HD batteries are manufactured by East Penn Mfg., under the DEKA brand, and re-badged for HD use....
They are the best battery you could use, it is an AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat), Maint. free, perfect fit with the correct CCA's and Voltage requirements....
You have to be very carefull with the battery dimensions and exact terminal locations of aftermarket batteries.
I went back to the HD battery after trying to modifyan aftermarket batterybattery to fit. The battery was 1/2" short and the terminals were also two low, made it very hard to hook up the battery with numerous acessory wires. My previous HD battery lasted over four years. The new HD battery was only $90 from HD and fits like a glove!!!
I had the same HD battery in my bike for 5 years no problems. I store my bikes in my other garage for winter across town so I pull the batteries & store them in my basement with a 2 amp charge once a month till spring. I finally bought a new one just in case.
