Default RK gas cap
Howdy good people. I filled my 97 RK gas tank and went for a ride down my street then made a left u turn. Saw gas pouring down on my right foot and on top of my shorty headers an I expected to go up in flames. Got lucky I was on my street and got it home and shut it down. Noticed the gas tank side was wet from the gas cap leaking. Went to go order a locking gas cap and found vented or un vented. This is a fuel injected engine and I do not know what I need, advice will be appreciated so I get the right one. I'm guessing non vented? TIA

I say vented. The cap should have some sort of small hole at the bottom. Most of the new H-D gas caps fit '94 and later RK.

Ok thanks. My old cap has a single round seal which is hard and brittle. It ratchets after tightening it so it can only be put on soo tight.

You can buy the seal (oring) separate if that is all you need.

Well, hoping for the locking type, keep infidels (idiots, lol) from putting something in it.

Try Autozone. They have parts catalogs for motorcycles and may be able to cross reference your bike for the proper cap.

This H-D locking gas cap fits your King and should match you current cap.
